The Rhode Island Senate just tweeted that the bill has passed the Senate 21 to 16 and is off to Governor Chafee's desk, who is expected to sign it. Earlier this afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the bill 7 to 4.
This might have been good news six years ago, but now most LGBT organizations see it as a consolation prize. Hopefully Chafee doesn't sign anything until the statewide organizations for marriage equality see the changes they hoped for. _____________________________________________________________________
