Lawyers for the Waynesville School District agreed on Wednesday to allow Maverick Couch to wear his "Jesus Is Not A Homophobe" T-shirt on April 20 to recognize the Day of Silence, the annual national event meant to show solidarity with gay students. A final decision in Couch's lawsuit against the school district is still pending.

Christopher Clark, a Lambda Legal lawyer, officially states: “We're glad that Maverick is able to wear his shirt on April 20th. However, a student's First Amendment rights are not restricted to one day of the year. We will continue to fight …”

Tracey Harris, an Iraq war veteran battling PTSD and multiple sclerosis, receives $1,448 less compensation annually from the Veterans Affairs administration than her heterosexual counterparts.
