Italy's National Committee for Cultural Heritage plans to investigate what some in the art world are starting to speculate: that the true identity of Mona Lisa--arguably the most famous painting in the world--is that of the painter himself, Leonardo Da Vinci, in drag.
Though the postulation is out there, the real-world likeness of Mona Lisa has been such a mystery for centuries that its possibility is prompting an investigation. To determine the truthfulness of the campy claim, the committee intends to dig up Da Vinci's body (thought to be buried at a French castle) and use CGI to compare his likeness with Mona Lisas.
