For gay men coming out at younger ages and feeling an earlier "pressure" to get or remain fit, the superficiality of it all may have deeper health benefits than once assumed and may not amount to a futile endeavor. According to a recent comprehensive Swedish study tracking one million young men, those who are physically strong between the ages of 16 and 19 will likely live longer than their weaker peers—even if they become overwheight later in life.
