Marriage equality continues to move forward in the United Kingdom!
The legislation, backed by Prime Minister David Cameron, passed through the House of Commons today! It's now headed to the House of Lords.

A French anti-gay activist protested the nation's legalization of same-sex marriage in the most dramatic way possible--by committing suicide on the altar of the famed Notre Dame Cathedral.

A vote on marriage equality in Parliament is now threatened after reports that the Labour party could derail the entire legislation if it joins forces with Torys to vote in favor of granting civil partnerships to heterosexual couples. More on the potential hurdles below.

French President Francois Hollande officially signed marriage equality into law today in France. The bill also legalized adoption by same-sex couples.
France is the 14th country to legalize same-sex marriage.

The ACLU wants to be sure viewers have the opportunity next season! The group’s advocacy arm, ACLU Action, has launched a campaign—complete with a website—to urge Modern Family producers to make it legal for the hit show’s gay couple, Mitch and Cam.
Of course the show does take place in California, where same-sex marriage is still illegal, but I guess we suspended reality enough to believe Mariah actually sang on Idol last night, so why not here, right?

The DOMA Project has done a brilliant job of highlighting the injustices many LGBT binational couples face in light of DOMA rules. This week they brought us the story of David and Jason, a binational couple who have been separated 17 times under DOMA rules—despite being legally married in New York.
