We were disconsolate when Matthew Mitcham threatened to retire from the world of Olympic diving after the London Games. But our M-A-C-glossed frowns were turned upside down today when we learned that the Aussie hottie has parlayed his experience (and Olympic-carved body) into another fruitful career. Thanks to this new campaign from Funky Trunks, we don't have to pour a beer a glass of Veuve on the diving board in honor of Matthew; it looks like he's on to bigger (just check out his underwear modeling assets!) and better (at least for our lingering eyes) things in the years ahead.

In his just released memoir Twists & Turns, Matthew Mitcham comes clean about an addiction to crystal meth that he developed in the years between winning gold in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics and this year's London Games. 

As you can tell from our extensive summer coverage, we love our male Olympians—especially the out gay ones that are bringing visibility to our community. 

With the Winter Olympics right around the corner in Sochi, Russia, we've already got our eye on an out gay athlete from New Zealand and he needs our help!

Kiwi speed skater Blake Skjellerup is in the running for the AMP People's Choice Scholarship (funded by a New Zealand bank). Our votes can get him the funding he needs to pay for his training and equipment and Olympic trainers and coaches. More after the jump!

We had high hopes for Matthew Mitcham to take gold in the 10m diving competition closing out the London Olympics this weekend (and not just because of his promise to dive naked). The guy's charming, a great international ambassador for the LGBT community and just plain talented. When things didn't quite work out the way we all had hoped on Saturday, gay diving fans across the world tossed on their Vera Wang veils and held memorials for what Matthew said would be the end of his career. 

But according to an interview on his way out of London, it looks like we can put out the candles and start looking forward to Rio's Summer Games in four years because Matthew may very well not retire!

It was exactly a week ago when jaw-dropping Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham asked us to place a ring on his finger yet he's already making us lofty promises that we pray to Oprah he can keep. 

So how will Matthew make the dreams of many men and women around the world come true if he wins gold in the 10m diving competition this weekend at the London Olympics?

No, our request wasn't for a specific song for him to tackle next; it was even simpler: less clothing, please! And boy, did he tackle our appeal masterfully in his newest ukulele viral video cover, this time of the Family Guy theme song. Watch and drool after the jump. 

AS IF we needed another reason to swoon over Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, he goes and shows that not only does he share our love for Beyoncé, but he can also serenade us with a little ditty.

So who wants to put a ring on it?

We'd get on our knees before Matthew Mitcham if ever given the opportunity, so its nice to see that he'd respond to our gesture with a million dollar smile and the words "I do." 

Matthew Mitcham is eye-catching even when he's not back-flipping off a 10 meter platform into the glimmering pool below, which is why he'll likely be the most visible LGBT athlete at the 2012 Olympics in London. Sure, he dreams of a Utopian future when sexuality and labels don't matter, but until that day arrives he's set to carry the LGBT torch to the world's biggest stage.

If you didn't notice from the 45-minute wait times in the cardio room or the iceburg-lettuce chip lunch specials in WeHo and Chelsea, Sydney's Mardi Gras is nearing. Ahead of the world's largest LGBT event celebrities are joining a PSA campaign that seeks to eradicate the derogatory use of "that's gay." Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham is the latest (and perhaps the cutest!) to join the "Say Something" campaign.

Out Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham's body of work has been immortified in a vibrant new series from painter Ross Watson, including a portrait that's very Sistine Chapel.
