Nate Silver, known for his spot-on election predictions, crunches the numbers to hypothesize that California voters would repeal Prop 8 on a 2012 ballot, given the chance. Unfortunately no repeal of Prop 8 is planned (as of yet) to send before equality-minded Californians.

Shouldn't the newly crunched numbers (thanks, Nate Silver!) showing that states with bans on marriage equality (aka gay marriage) suffer from higher divorce rates make the National Organization for Marriage and its ilk meaningless?

Considering these hate groups aren't founded on anything resembling logic or reality, probably not. Still, the statistics are enlightening.

Over the past decade or so, divorce has gradually become more uncommon in the United States. Since 2003, however, the decline in divorce rates has been largely confined to states which have not passed a state constitutional ban on gay marriage. These states saw their divorce rates decrease by an average of 8 percent between 2003 and 2008...
