Chief Warrant Officer Charlie Morgan, a member of the New Hampshire National Guard and a lesbian, passed away this morning.

Morgan bravely battled Stage IV breast cancer while working tirelessly to see both the overturn of the Defense of Marriage Act and the extension of benefits to same-sex military couples.

Rep. Mike Reynolds (R-Oklahoma City) has authored and introduced a bill into the state's legislature that will reinstate "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" for the Oklahoma National Guard "at response of request from servicemembers" (or so says the lawmaker). Details follow.

So gays can serve openly for the country but not the state? That's what Virginia Republican Bob Marshall is proposing will a bill in the state assembly. 

House Bill 2474 would ban openly gay and lesbian citizens from serving in the state's National Guard, because "unit cohesion is compromised" by allowing members to serve openly.

"You are going to have a significant departure from ground troops because they do not want to serve under these conditions. They do not enlist under these conditions," Marshall told a local news station regarding the bill.

"Pakistan does not allow open homosexuals. China does not do it. India does not allow it. The Russians don't do it. We're pushing the envelope here and we're going to jeopardise our alliances...
