The last Sunday of June holds more gay history in the U.S. than possibly any other day. On the fourth anniversary of Stonewall Riots 32 gay people burned to death by an act of arson at UpStairs Lounge in New Orleans. Important but graphic details and images after the jump. 

MTV's umpteenth incarnation of The Real World lands in New Orleans, one of America's gayest cities, and might boast a closet-case homophobe, as evident after three episodes of cliché anti-gay rants. In this week's episode, the latest homophobic tantrum thrown by Ryan (the houseguest in question) started when his openly-gay castmate Preston engaged in some afternoon delight while everyone was home. While disgusted to the core by the idea of gay sex occurring a few rooms away, Ryan assured his roommates (and viewers via the diary room) that he has gay friends and are cool with them--as long as they're not having sex. Perhaps the fact that Ryan can't stop thinking about the gay sex in the next room is the first sign...

We enjoyed spending time reveling in Saints quarterback Scott Brees body of work (see previous post), but the team's linebacker, Scott Fujita, might be our favorite player from NoLa. Besides being downright gorgeous, Fujita is widely-recognized as an outspoken straight ally for GLBT rights.
