With all four states that put same-sex marriage on the ballot now officially called, we can finally take a closer look at the numbers behind last night's incredible victories for the LGBT community. A few just released exit polls are letting us know who we can send thank flowers to for the historic 2012 elections...and which group that most needs our help evolving over the next few years.

In sobering contrast to Monday's opening optimism from Sec. Hillary Clinton, a panel of experts presented a bleak warning: the end of AIDS in America is nothing but a dream unless financial roadblocks are removed.

As Prop 8 slowly winds its way around the court system, more and more Californians are being exposed to our stories of love, stories that we've known would change hearts and minds. The latest Field Poll shows that it's working, finding for the first time a whopping 59 percent of California voters supporting same-sex marriage. 

But why go for civil unions when they actually have access to marriage? The answer, after the jump.

A new study from the United Nations published just ahead of World AIDS Day on December 1 finds that global AIDS-related deaths have fallen to the lowest level since a 2005 peak.

Troubling new numbers from the Centers for Disease Control today, which reports that while overall HIV infection rates in the U.S. have remained steady since 2009, new infection rates among the gay black male population is up 50 percent. Details follow.
