We told you a few weeks ago about Matt Lauer’s plans to upstage Barbara Walters with NBC’s People of the Year special, airing on Thanksgiving. This of course comes before Bab’s annual 10 Most Fascinating People special. Well, we’re now learning who some of BW’s choices are and it seems like the first lady of The View may still come out on top.

While Matt booked Octomom, Taylor Swift and Kobe Bryant, Barbara got the likes of Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Kate Gosselin and the wife of disgraced South Carolina governor, Jenny Sanford.

Ooh, Matt Lauer better watch his back because Barbara Walters is going to be coming for him! Taking a page from the newswoman's famous "Most Fascinating People" yearly specials, Matt and NBC are launching the "People of the Year" this year, with Today's leading man taking the reigns.

And beating Babs to the air date!

So, after you're done stuffing yourself on Thanksgiving, you can tune in to see Matt's sit downs with the likes of Octomom, Susan Boyle, Taylor Swift, Kobe Bryant, Captain Chelsey Sullenberger and a few other "People of the Year" surprises.
