Rev. Phil Snider's dramatic speech that he delivered during a Springfield, Missouri city council meeting in the midst of debate over a discrimination ordinance that would have added the LGBT community to a list of protected minorities has set the interwebs on fire and has already been seen by more than 2 million people!

We watched this clip through gritted teeth as Missouri Reverend Phil Snider of Brentwood Christian Church argued with blinding zeal and hatred that sexual orientation and gender identity should not be added to Springfield, Missouri's nondiscrimination ordinance. 

The Reverend shamefully uses the Bible to promote fear and ignorance towards members of the LGBT community...and then something miraculous happens.

Long Beach councilmember Robert Garcia—whom you probably recognize as one of Instinct’s 2009 Leading Men—has banked a major victory for the city after his was adopted by the city this week. Beginning in January, the city will only enter contracts with companies that provide the same employment benefits to registered domestic partners that are provided to married spouses.

The LB now joins Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Seattle and a handful of other cities across the U.S. that have Equal Benefits Ordinances in place.

In a move that's stirred up a few double-takes across the community today, Salt Lake City has passed anti-discrimination laws in housing and employment--with a little bit of help and support from Mormon leaders.

Whether it's a bit of PR spin to try to come off as less-hateful, or to give the illusion of evolving since being awarded "America's biggest foe of equality" title for majorly contributing to the passage of Prop 8, or simply a Christian-like gesture for once, the Mormons came out in support of the anti-discrimination legislation, helping it pass last night in SLC.

"The church supports these ordinances," LDS spokesmen Michael Otterson said, "because they are fair and reasonable and do not do violence to the institution...
