The Boy Scouts of America has officially ended its ban on openly gay youth membership. 

Gay scout leaders will still be banned, which means gay youth can serve until they turn 18.

We're seeing more rumbling within the ranks of the Boy Scouts. 

This weekend a northeast chapter of the Scouts, the Connecticut Yankee Council, renounced the Boy Scouts' current discriminatory policy as well as any potential policy that discriminates against gay adults that may act as leaders.

While the fight for marriage equality certainly isn't over, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is already looking ahead to the next challenges our community will have to rally together to face. 

The momentum in terms of marriage is unstoppable, but what about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which serves to protect LGBT people in the work place? What about immigration reform so that LGBT binational couples aren't unjustly separated? Keeping LGBT youth safe? Making sure our elderly community members are protected and taken care of?

Falsely linking homosexuality with pedophilia isn't exactly a new concept amongst conservative "Christian" wingnuts, but Liberty Council member and Christian radio host, Matt Barber, took it a step further when he illustrated his views on why gays shouldn't be allowed to join the Boy Scouts.
