America's favorite son, Eagle Scout and Scouts For Equality President Zach Wahls eviscerated homophobe Ed Whelan on Saturday during an interview with CNN's Randi Kaye and it was a thing of beauty. (Seriously, we don't even smoke and we needed a cigarette after.)
Whelan trots out the tired party line of the danger of having gay men around impressionable young boys in the Boy Scouts and Wahls articulately and logically shoots down his argument.
Sit back and enjoy folks.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry wants the Boy Scouts of America to maintain its strict anti-gay policy and made that clear today when he addressed the Texas Scouts' 64th annual Report to State, where (as explained by The Associated Press) hundreds of Scouts from around Texas filled the state House of Representatives to announce their delegation's recent accomplishments.
He argues that the group should hold onto its "traditional conservative values" rather than "bending to the whims of popular culture."
Cute.

With the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) potentially ending its ban on gay Scouts and Scout leaders, you'd think that'd be cause for at least a cautious celebration, right??
Not so fast. The policy that may replace the nationwide ban is giving the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) pause.
The proposed new policy would give sponsoring organizations permission to institute their own bans on gay Scouts and troop leaders at the local level.

In an interesting move—as Neil Patrick Harris correctly identifies—the Boy Scouts of America have opened up their phone lines to hear what the public has to say about allowing gay troops and leaders into its ranks.
If an analog phone call is too old school for you, the BSA will also take your opinion on the matter at the email address

Give 'em a ring or an email. You know the bigoted forces against dismantling Boy Scout discrimination are doing the same.
