Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady made news earlier this year for coming out in support of marriage equality, then again on Tuesday when he abruptly resigned from his post. Though he said his resignation was definitely not due to minor backlash from the GOP over same-sex marriage, today NOM's head homophobe Brian Brown is carving a lonely notch in his bedpost, whether or not its deserved.

Will Illinois Republican Committee Chairman Pat Brady get the boot following his public support of marriage equality?
That's a very real possibility as GOP committee members in the state continue to ignore where the state (and the nation) is headed with regards to same-sex marriage.
A special meeting has been called to discuss Brady going rogue and a vote may soon follow that could have him removed from his post.

Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady threw his support behind marriage equality earlier this month saying that same-sex marriage “honors the best conservative principles. It strengthens and reinforces a key Republican value – that the law should treat all citizens equally.”
Well, that's not going over too well with other members of his party, who have been quite vocal in their disagreement.
Thankfully, Brady's not backing down.

The National Organization for Marriage won't take civil rights support from republican leaders in Illinois lying down (they prefer doggy style, we hear). In response to Wednesday's big news that Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady has thrown his weight behind marriage equality, NOM has pledged $250,00 to his defeat as well as the defeat of any pro-gay GOPer in the state.
