We know nothing about the new cookbook, Man Candy and Cupcakes. It frankly could be a vegan, raw food baker's guide with human placenta (not vegan, but roll with it) as the key ingredient and we'd still advocate for its publication.

We don't even eat cupcakes--or anything that can't be mixed with club soda for that matter.

But we'll fight for this book. We'll purchase this book and send it to our neighbors. We'll host book club over this book.

And why? This video after the jump.

Though someone (who shall remain nameless to keep his gay card in tact) in the Instinct office said "I thought she died in1989" when the news came to our desks, the Internet rumor gone-out-of-control since Thursday is false: Cher is alive, lovelies! You may now manually unclench your buttocks and exhale (and follow the jump for more details).

Dan Savage, likely frustrated from the past month of serial glitter-bombings, uses Neil Patrick Harris's "tranny" "joke" to raise a thought-provoking point on the intricacies of being PC in the age of LGBT activism. Follow the jump to read Dan's reaction to the trans community's reaction to NPH. It's a daisy chain of reactions!

Over the weekend we took extra grains of salt rimming our extra brunch-time margaritas as we checked out purported demos from The Messengers for Madonna's upcoming new album. Cupcakes have achieved their pop culture fatigue. First a hit on the indie bakery scene in New York, then co-opted by Sex and the City before finally reaching its zenith as a silly reality TV show on Food Network, the signal that cupcake coolery has officially died is an out-of-the-box blackface scandal at the hands of Duncan Hines.

Though the foodstuffs company has removed it's YouTube videos showing bakers how to make "Hip Hop Cupcakes," Eater managed to keep it alive.

Judging from the ad posted here and the video, are the "hip hop cupcakes" worthy of controversy, Instincters?

The Iowa Family Policy Center (IFPC) has reasserted its erroneous, shock-value claim that marriage equality is more dangerous than smoking. The anti-gay group asserts that because HIV and certain other STDs are more prevalent in the gay male population, that Iowa’s legalization of marriage equality should be overturned in the interest of public health.

But when the group first posted the vilifying claim last month for its followers, everyone with any modicum of sense was quick to point out its major flaws:

  • The Center for Disease Control -- which the IFPC cites in its claim! -- itself has many times in the past noted that homophobia and homophobic stigma aid in the spread of HIV and thwart gay men from prevention and getting tested,...
