The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will announce that this year they are awarding approximately $1.3 million in federal grants in efforts to expand the capacity of current grantees to provide rapid HIV testing, counseling and referral to care. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today announced a new initiative to raise awareness of the media's representation of LGBT people of color. GLAAD's People of Color Media Training Initiative will include a two-day seminar in New York and Los Angeles that instructs participants in amplifying their voices and framing messages for radio and on-camera interviews. 

"While the visibility of LGBT people and issues continues to grow, far too often the voices, views and faces of people of color are underrepresented, if represented at all, in American news, entertainment and online media," said GLAAD's Senior Director of Media Programs Rashad Robinson.
