As Republicans convene this week to assess their party's arguably failing platform, social conservatives are threatening to jump ship if the party takes any steps in the direction towards equality.

Thirteen influential wingnuts (joined, of course, by hate group leader Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council) penned a letter to the Republican National Committee telling them to affirm the party's 2012 platform, which supported a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and supported the Defense of Marriage Act, or face abandonment by their socially conservative base.

Rachel Maddow is skeptical that the Grand Ol' Party has what it takes to support let alone even appear to support LGBT rights, as advised in a landmark report released by the Republican National Committee on Monday.

The Log Cabin Republican's are applauding the passage of language that the pro-gay conservative group says is a nod of support for the LGBT community.

According to Buzzfeed, A subcommittee of the Republican National Committee's platform-drafting committee passed language this morning that states: "We embrace the principle that all Americans have the right to be treated with dignity and respect."

Out Magazine thinks so. After all, it was revealed today that Ken Mehlman has been named to its "Out 100" list. Yep, the same Ken Mehlman who not so long ago engineered a collection of anti-gay initiatives during his tenure as head of the Republican National Committee. (More, after the jump.)

First RNC donors foot the bill for its leaders to participate in a lesbain bondage show in WeHo, and now the RNC continues its funny sexcapades with a mailer that reads like the punchline to a great April Fools joke!

A mass mailer from the GOP organization was sent out to Republicans across the country, including an erroneous phone number at the bottom of the Census-style form; instead of the RNC's 202 area code phone number, the mailer included the prefix 1-800, a mistake that sent those calling it to a phone sex hot line!
