We're all aware of the homoerotic undertones, probably loudest vocalized by Robert Downey Jr. himself, in the new big screen version of Sherlock Holmes. In promotions for the film, Robert Downey Jr. hasn't strayed from speculating that Holmes (whom he portrays) and Dr. Watson (played by Jude Law) are more than just friends.

The gay hoopla surrounding the film has been well-received by audiences, perhaps even accounting for garnering more ticket sales, yet the owner of the Sherlock Holmes brand isn't pleased. Andrea Plunkett, the character's U.S. copyright holder, insists she will cancel a planned sequel if the gay undertones aren't turned down.
