We previously reported on Eagle Scout Tim Griffin's firing by the Golden Empire Council chapter of the Boy Scouts of America near Sacramento, California. Ten fellow members of Griffin's BSA summer camp staff quit in solidarity with Griffin over his firing.

Griffin is now presenting a petition calling for his reinstatement and the Golden Empire Council has issued a response.

In a true show of solidarity, 10 members of a Sacramento area Boy Scouts of America summer camp staff walked out in response to the firing of a gay staff member.

Apparently there are a few thousand followers who are, and they are planning to take over California's state capitol for church repentance and push for the return to traditional marriage.

"TheCall To Conscience" will gather Christians and leaders in Sacramento this Saturday, Sept. 4, for prayer and renewal. The press release (that for some reason was sent to Instinct??) reads that the demonstration is necessary "as the Christian church faces the problems of no-fault divorce and pornography within and attacks on life, traditional marriage and religious freedom from the outside."

The same group held a march on a Houston abortion clinic earlier in the year, which they claim had a turn out of more than 10,000 protesters. But ...

It's apparent how much more work we have ahead of us to achieve acceptance when d-bags like the now-openly gay CA State Senator Roy Ashburn exists.

If Ashburn didn’t boil your blood before, perhaps news that the notorious anti-gay legislator came out over the weekend yet pledged to continue voting for and going out of his way to support homophobic measures will do the trick better than he did after Faces last week.

“I am gay.  Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long.  It is something that is personal, and I don’t believe I felt with my heart that being gay would affect how I do my job,” Ashburn said.

When asked about going out of his way to promote and vote for measures that harm and take away rights...

You might have to throw some anger West Sacramaneto Mayor Christopher Cabaldon's way. The openly-gay elected official of the central California city claims he had been aware of the hardworking anti-gay politician Ashburn's sexuality for some time -- yet didn't say anything. With cameras in his face in light of the recent scandal, however, Mayor Cabaldon finally spoke.


"To live a secret life and at the same time be attacking the people who you're one of but are too ashamed to admit, that's hypocrisy," he told reporters when asked about Ashburn. I wonder what Cabaldon defines complacent silence as a gay person sits back and watches another gay person ruin the lives of countless in the GLBT community with harmful, vilifying...
