The Associated Press Stylebook—basically the journalist's Bible—has implemented a few controversial LGBT-specific "clarifications" in the past five months that have left many in the community appalled. The latest update to its guidelines suggesting that journalists refrain from using "husband" and "wife" when referring to married same-sex couples has spurred at least one couple in California into action.

Just in case there was any confusion, Mitt Romney is still very much in favor of a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.
He also doesn't consider pesky things like, oh, being able to visit your same-sex partner in the hospital to be civil rights. Those are "benefits" and according to Romney they should be determined by the states.
Awesome. Details after the jump.

We admit, we didn't actually know this was an issue, but we're thrilled that Equality California and the National Center for Lesbian Rights worked hard to bring attention to it.
Today, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2356, will ensure that women in same-sex relationships and single women can access fertility services on the same terms as women in heterosexual relationships.

House Democrats are applying necessary pressure to the Obama administration to ensure that binational same-sex couples are protected from deportation.
As it stands now, a foreign same-sex partner of a US citizen has virtually no protection regarding whether they're forced to leave the country based on immigration laws.
House Reps, including Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats, want President Obama and his Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano to change that—in writing.

Another DOMA case has been filed. (Think the Supreme Court's getting the hint yet?)
Legally married couple, Irma Rodriguez and Jane DeLeon are challenging the Defense of Marriage Act following the denial of immigration benefits to Jane, an immigrant from the Phillipines.
Jane's "temporary lawful status," has been revoked and she's been ordered to leave the country even though she and her wife, Irma have been lawfully married in the California since 2008 and have been in a committed relationship for 20 years.

The always classy Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (who's proven to be anti-pretty-much-everything) has shifted her focus to the gays in a particularly nasty way.
The Republican Governor has asked the US Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that allows state employees to place their same-sex partners on their health insurance. Because, you know, we should die.

Zach Wahls, the Iowa college student that became interweb famous after eloquently speaking out in support of his two moms, has shot down a controversial, newly released study that alleges that children raised by gay parents will be negatively affected in the long-run.
The study, which shockingly (read: not shockingly) has funding ties with the Family Research Council (an anti-gay hate group) confuses causation with causality. Wahls and Slate's Will Saletan argue that the data found by the study actually points to the idea that children raised in a stable two parent/same-sex partner home have no noted negative outcome.
More, plus Zach Wahl's interview with Eliot Spitzer on Current's Viewpoint after the jump! FULL STORY
