The Associated Press sent out an internal memo regarding the appropriate terminology for same-sex married couples. 

The original memo and its subsequent revision is the subject of controversy with some claiming the AP is invoking a "separate but equal" designation for same-sex couples.

It looks like the U.S. Supreme Court will be reviewing a high profile Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) case this week. 

Interestingly this particular case will be brought to the court by a California couple married during the short window where same-sex marriage was legal in the state.
