Everything the Vatican does is just farcical and made for headlines at the Onion at this point, isn't it?
The latest Vatican deal to leave Catholics around the world clutching their rosaries involves the purchase of a block of Rome real-estate that happens to include Europe's largest gay bathhouse, Europa Multiclub.

Cupcakes have achieved their pop culture fatigue. First a hit on the indie bakery scene in New York, then co-opted by Sex and the City before finally reaching its zenith as a silly reality TV show on Food Network, the signal that cupcake coolery has officially died is an out-of-the-box blackface scandal at the hands of Duncan Hines.
Though the foodstuffs company has removed it's YouTube videos showing bakers how to make "Hip Hop Cupcakes," Eater managed to keep it alive.
Judging from the ad posted here and the video, are the "hip hop cupcakes" worthy of controversy, Instincters?

We know it's been everywhere over the past day, but we can't let this story slip away from the public spotlight: Bishop Eddie Long, one of the nation's most popular and most vehement anti-gay evangelical leaders who is accused of coercing teenage male followers into lewd sexual acts, has opted for mediation in lieu of a trial.
While if mediation goes awry the case can still has the option to go to trial, for Bishop Long to have agreed to this initial procedure in the first place he had to forfeit his right to ever claim innocence.
We'll let HuffPo's Morris W. O'Kelly explain further:
"Long [is] publicly admitting to some degree of guilt when he agreed to mediation. The public wanted Long to thoroughly address the allegations... FULL STORY

In things that make sense, the "reborn" evangelical pastor who once faced a similar scandal has rushed to Eddie Long's defense.
According to AOL News:
"Ted Haggard said that Long deserves a fair hearing and that if the accusations are false, he will survive the ordeal. 'The bishop is surrounded by people that will counsel him well,' he said. Haggard, who was a superstar among the Christian right until a gay sex scandal forced him to resign, said that all too often unsavory allegations can tarnish a person's reputation, even if they are unproved. 'Public perception becomes more important than the facts,' he said. While stressing that nothing had been proved against Long, whom he... FULL STORY

Florida's Attorney General and current most-famous homophobe Bill McCollum has been shunned by the GOP in his bid to earn the Republican nomination for the state's governorship. The humiliation ends McCollum's 24 years of public service -- 24 years that have seen the man spend hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars on "expert" testimony from George Rekers, and time and time again fight claw and fang to keep homeless children out of loving GLBT households.
Newcomer and Naples Businessman Rick Scott instead took the GOP nomination after an intensified focus on McCollum's connection to the Rekers scandal in the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, Scott is no friend to the community, either.
