Despite the NHL basically saying it doesn't give a puck (hardy, har) about the video evidence showing Philly Flyer Wayne Simmonds calling New York Ranger Sean Avery a "fucking faggot" during Monday night's game, GLAAD isn't letting the issue fade away. Not only has the org amped-up its call on the sports league to reprimand Simmonds, but it has also launched an online petition calling on the NHL to immediately take action.

The NHL today announced it will not take action against Philadelphia Flyer Wayne Hammond for what everyone involved says shouting an anti-gay slur during a game. During Monday night's match against the New York Rangers, Hammond called marriage equality activist Sean Avery a "fucking faggot." Even our straight friends are targets of the cowardly anti-gay slurs the LGBT community encounters on a regular basis. Case in point: the Wikipedia page for hot hetero hockey star Sean Avery (of the New York Rangers), who recently visited Albany to campaign for marriage equality, was hacked to call the LGBT-ally "FAG BOY." Details follow.

Yesterday, Sean Avery became the first pro sports start to speak up for marriage equality in New York. Almost instantly after a pro-hockey management firm in Canada began denouncing Avery and revealing its bigotry on its Twitter feed.
