Liberia's homophobia problem has been a roller coaster ride of clarifications and retractions throughout 2012. But after a militant group published a "hit list" targeting known members of the LGBT acronym living in the African nation that worried the world last week, the Liberian government made its strongest case of support for its gay community yet.

Worse than a horror film, the Movement Against Gays in Liberia (MOGUL) has distributed fliers containing a hit list of LGBT in the African nation calling for their murder. The disgusting details, after the jump.

Liberia is in full PR mode this week after that awkward joint interview with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Tony Blair. In a letter sent to the Guardian, Liberian officials insist the African nation doesn't hate the gays and that its president meant something totally different than what she said in the video that quickly went viral. Former British PM Tony Blair isn't the only one giving Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf a major awkward side-eye after she pledged support for a homosexuality = criminalization bill in her country; Now the U.S. State Department is jumping into the head-shaking game with Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland expressing disapproval via Sec. of State Hillary Clinton after the African leader's remarks.
