American Family Association's disgust with the LGBT community is so ripe that it continues on into the afterlife, apparently. The AFA took issue with the entire handful of benefits the Pentagon extended to same-sex military couples this week, but is mostly aghast that LGBT American soldiers who die in the line of duty will be buried alongside their straight counterparts at Arlington.

Tattoos on the butt or near sexual organs are as close to gaydar as the homophobic Russian Defense Ministry can get, apparently. According to the Ministry, tattoos in these regions indicate a person's sexuality, so it will naturally force soldiers to drop trou so that doctors can interpret their tattoos like some sort of inkblot Rorschach test.

The New York Times published a great piece this weekend showcasing how gay military cadets are adjusting to a military culture in which they don't have to hide in the wake of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.'

Let's not forget that we're talking about eighteen and nineteen-year-old kids that will suddenly have the opportunity to live their lives openly as they prepare to defend our nation.

So how are they doing? Well from the looks of things it really does get better. More after the jump!

It might feel odd not to boo a guy on the Republican ticket, but the rest we're able to give those part of our vocal chords is quite soothing after a lot of recent use. Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan took a break from being heckled to say something in step with the American people for once. Details follow.

Here at Instinct we've got a soft spot for cyclists (our boys that participated in AIDS/LifeCycle are still feeling it in their quads!).

That's partially why we were so excited to hear about the military vets participating in "The Long Ride Home Project," which started on July 15 in Ocean Shores, WA and is taking the veterans through 12 states, pedaling more than 4,200 miles to their final destination: Washington, D.C.

One of the vets is 27-year-old Marie B. Tracy, a.k.a. Marty. Marty is an openly lesbian veteran who served in the Air Force for 6 years.  More after the jump!

Homophobic activists like to run around and scream that the sky is falling whenever civil rights progresses for the LGBT community, but in step with all their other doomsday predictions for a post-tolerance America, military chaplains are not involved in a "mass exodus" following the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Turkey does not allow gays in its military, but instead of operating under a "Don't Ask, Don't  Tell" kind of law, Turkish officials want gay recruits to tell, tell, tell so they can kick them out of service.

Shocking! The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) and the resultant right of LGBT soldiers being able to openly serve resulted in….virtually no change at all in the lives of military soldiers!
