The spots, which ask Argentineans to support pending legislation that seeks to expand healthcare rights to transgender citizens, are about as progressive as a nationally-broadcasted TV commercial can get. Watch the ads that you likely couldn't imagine running in the U.S., after the jump.

Though every day that a heterosexual isn't murdered, bullied, harassed or discriminated against based on their sexual orientation should amount to enough of a celebration of pride, the city of Sao Paulo still felt the need to give the greenlight to petitioners asking for an official Straight Pride Day. Worsening matters is the fact that the country's Minister of the National Women's Service has given t-shirts emblazoned with the horrifically offensive tagline to the 33 Chilean miners so that they may blindly promote it during international media tours and interviews.

Via Joe, heartrenching videos of Viva Argentina (apologies for the excessive Vs) have been added to this post.

----------------

The Roman-Catholic country of Argentina has become the first Latin American nation to approve marriage equality. In a vote that lasted until 4 a.m., the country’s Senate approved legislation allowing equal access to marriage rights for all Argentines. At word of the historic news, crowds in the street began to dance and sing in a celebration that certainly left the American Mormon Church with a bad taste in its mouth. President Cristina Fernandez vows to sign the legislation into law when she returns from a trip to China, meaning the early morning...
