While we applauded Wyoming for putting issues like marriage equality and sexual orientation-based discrimination on the table in the state's House and Senate, we can't say we're thrilled by the results.

Though we already knew that they'd rejected a proposal to legalize same-sex marriage, today the Wyoming Senate rejected a bill that would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity

The Michigan Senate has approved by a landslide the controversial bill that seeks to require every school district in the state to adopt anti-bullying policies. The legislation made headlines weeks ago when Senate GOP tossed in (and, just as quickly, out) a provision nicknamed "License to Bully" that protected those who bully on religious grounds. Thankfully, the provision didn't make the final cut. Details follow.

Updated Tuesday, 1:35 p.m. (PST)

Thanks to state Senator Gretchen Whitmer and the bad press nationally, the religious exemption has been stripped from the anti-bullying bill that is working its way through the Michigan legislature.

However, LGBT groups are still unsatisfied. The edited bill still does not specifically outlaw bullying based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

But at least a kid can't beat the crap out of gay classmate claiming God told him to and technically get away with it. Unfortunately, the panic defense may still hold up in the eyes of many of these lawmakers.

Get it together, Michigan.

New York Sen. Greg Ball—who seemed to be enjoying all the camera time and attention he had received for remaining so publicly "undecided" on marriage equality—has revealed today that he will unsurprisingly vote no for efforts to provide all of his constituents with equal treatment under the law. When marriage equality came up in the NY Assembly, Sen. Ball also voted for discrimination. Follow the jump to read the d-bag's excuse this time around.
