Sadly the news we have been reporting on all day has taken a turn for the worse, as the AP is reprting the 33-year-old diagnosed with meningitis has been declared brain dead by doctors and is on life support. This corrects earlier reports by local L.A. media said the patient, Brett Shaad, had died Friday afternoon.
NBCLA reports that the victim had attended White Party in Palm Springs just a few weeks ago, with West Hollywood city councilman John Duran adding, "If this resident was in fact in attendance at the White Party, it raises the issue, so we want to get the word out to any gay men that were at the White Party, that if they have any of these symptoms, go see their physician... Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Archdiocese of Springfield in Illinois has started talking about a priest under his employ who was granted a leave of absence for an odd 911 call in late 2012. Earlier this month we brought you the story of Father Tom Donovan, who had to have police help him out of a mouth gag and handcuffs. Today, Bishop Paprocki, who is currently at war with marriage equality efforts in Illinois, released a statement about the incident.

We reported back in October on Angela McCaskill, the Chief Diversity Officer of Gallaudet University, who was placed on administrative leave after she signed a petition in support of a voter referendum on marriage equality in Maryland. (Many viewed this as a move in opposition of same-sex marriage.)
The issue garnered a lot of attention primarily because it had supporters on both sides of the issue coming together for McCaskill's reinstatement.
Well, three months later, Dr. McCaskill is back at her post.
