America, you have your first openly gay senator! That's right, it's official: the history books will remember today as the day that Tammy Baldwin was sworn in as our country's first LGBT senator.

Times they are a'changin'!

President Obama's first reaction to Tuesday's landslide of victories for marriage equality in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington arrived on Thursday night through Valerie Jarrett, one of his key advisers. 

So, what does the president think about the election's landslide of love?

We get to put our hatha yoga and Pilates classes to use today by reaching around and patting ourselves on the back before rolling up our sleeves and returning to work. A few new statements from the Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD help us stretch further and do a few victory laps. Check them out after the jump. 

We pinched ourselves when we woke this morning just to make sure the leaps and bounds of progress the LGBT community made on Election Night were real and not the stuff of our daiquiri dreams/blackout. 

While we still wait for a final call from Washington state, we can cheer on one of last night's biggest wins, the election of the first openly gay U.S. Senator in Wisconsin's Sen. Tammy Baldwin, as her victory speech is finally available online.

When faced with a non-homophobic actual LGBT person to endorse in the race for a Wisconsin Senate seat, GOProud, a supposedly gay organization, has officially said, "No thank, you. Give us the straight, white, homophobe, please."

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) has put the rumors to rest by officially coming out as a candidate for the U.S. Senate. Details follow.

After pressure from LGBT groups, sources close to Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis) have said that she is "very likely to run" for the state's upcoming open Senate seat in 2012. 

We updated a blog earlier with speculation that Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) was planning to introduce a DOMA-repeal bill into the House next week. But as more details trickle in, this welcome news is certainly deserving of its own post, don't you think?

We've just learned that two other GLBT political heavyweights, Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO), are introducing the legislation along with Rep. Nadler. As well as the three legislators, same-sex couples and notable human rights activists will gather on Tuesday morning, September 15 to officially announce the legislation. Intricacies of the Defense Of Marriage Act-repeal will come then, but we do know that it is said to be a full-repeal of the discriminatory...
