They were understandably mum when asked how they think the Supreme Court will rule on Prop 8, but AFER's superstar attorneys Ted Olson and David Boies still had much to say about today's arguments in a post-hearing press conference.

The Internet has absolutely erupted today after President Obama completed a 560 day evolution to become the first sitting president to support marriage equality. Statements of support, dissent and other reactions are pouring in following the historic announcement. A slew of celebrities and big-name personas have jumped on to the protest of the MPAA for its inhibitive R-rating of Bully, including Ellen, who interviews the parents featured in the heartwrenching documentary. The full unedited tear-jerking interview that didn't make the Ellen broadcast follows.

Ellen isn't the only lesbian-we-love discussing the Prop 8 ruling on her talk show; MSNBC's Rachel Maddow devoted much of her Tuesday night show to the landmark appellate ruling. The heroic Ted Olson joined Rachel for the first portion of the discussion to explain the fight so far and speculate where his case will go from here (The Supremes?).  

Legal teams in the Prop. 8 trial made what is expected to be their last appearance before the Ninth Circuit Court Of Appeals this afternoon, with plaintiffs explaining why videotapes of the Proposition 8 trial should be publicly accessible and why Proponents’ motion to vacate judgment is meritless. While we wait on pins for the justices from the California Supreme Court to let us know if they think Protect Marriage has the legal standing to "defend" Prop 8 by representing the state, we at least have a Ted Olson press conference video as well as a stirring montage of the protests (both pro and anti-equality) that took place outside yesterday's courtroom. With the short & sweet (but ultimately heartfelt) hearing over the legal standing of those defending Prop 8 in court having already wrapped in front of the California Supreme Court, leaders of and attorneys for the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) have issued statements optimistic of the case's outcome. The American Foundation for Equal Rights raised $3 million to fight Prop H8 during a fundraiser in Beverly Hills, and anti-Prop8 warrior Ted Olson was feeling particularly rosy about the whole thing. 

"This is number one. This is the most important case that I know I've ever had. It means so much to so many people... We're feeling the change of public opinion almost like flowers blooming in the spring you can almost see them growing, and it's so moving to see this happen."

New-millennium civil-rights hero Ted Olson, still fresh off the Prop 8 overturning victory, battled out the landmark decision on Faux News yesterday. So eloquent, intelligent and legitimately passionate about this civil rights issue... Who would have thought that a straight conservative republican would be our most ferocious asset?

The West Hollywood Decision Day rally certainly had a more tame feel than those that covered these same streets a year ago. But with tame also came celebration!

Aside from some politicos, celebs, activists and a thousand or so attendees, the stars of the rally were the very people responsible for the historic case in the first place: Plaintiffs Kris Perry & Sandy Stier, Paul Katami & Jeff Zarrillo; and (pretty fucking awesome) lawyers David Boies and Ted Olson.

The crew jumped on a plane after spending the early afternoon in San Francisco for the decision and each one of them addressed the crowd. The four plaintiffs each echoed what the case and fight is all about at the end of the day: their desire...

NOM's favorite no-shoe-wearing gal took to the organization's website Wednesday night following court with the following statement:

"Chuck Cooper is a heckuva lawyer. At stake in this case is the future of marriage in all 50 states, and he's right that this attempt to shut down the debate by constitutionalizing gay marriage will backfire. Americans have a right to vote for marriage. Ted Olson doesn't seem to understand the argument, and judging from today's exchanges neither does Judge Walker. I expect Judge Walker will overrule Prop 8. But millions of Americans do understand why marriage is the union of husband and wife and I believe the majority of the Supreme Court will as well."
