Wow! One Million Moms are on a roll. First their unsuccessful threats to boycott JC Penney for hiring Ellen turned the retail partnership into an international media frenzy, doing wonders for the store. Now, a threatened boycott of Archie Comics due to the brand allowing its gay character to wed has lead to the issue in question SELLING OUT. Jeez, with how well the subjects of a One Million Moms boycott end up doing, perhaps the organization will threaten our non-existent six pack or our Etsy store?

Usually dolls scare the shit out of me, but “Gwen” from American Girl just pisses me off. Sure, the doll’s background story (every American Girl comes with a biography) reveals that Gwen is homeless, providing a lesson for the hard-knocks life has to offer to the daughters of the affluent. But at $95 per toy, is the message getting lost in the price tag?

It might make sense if the company announced that a percentage of profits from sales of the dolls were going to organizations that aid the homeless, but the suits at American Girl have been very forthcoming that not a single cent of sales from the hundred dollar toy will benefit anyone but them.

In its defense, American Girl has donated thousands of dollars to charities that help ...
