Big news for transgender employees (and prospective employees).

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commision (EEOC) has decided that transgender Americans are protected from employment discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

More than 13,000 signatures were turned in to the Anchorage city clerk’s office Thursday in support of adding gay and transgender protections to pre-existing anti-discrimination laws. More on the measure’s specifics after the jump.
