We miss Ugly Betty. We really do. It’s not quite the same watching Vanessa Williams on Desperate Housewives or Becki Newton doing her thing in various guest-spots. That being said, we’ll take the talented cast wherever we can get them, which is why we’re thrilled that it looks like our personal fave, Michael Urie will be returning to television this Fall in the new series Partners!

Ugly Betty's Eric Mabius (Daniel Meade) has obviously had a lot of time to think and ponder life since his series—one of the most LGBT-inclusive shows to ever hit the airwaves—was canceled; enough time to allege that ABC's "discomfort" (as he claims) with gay story-lines is what lead to the show's demise. Details follow.

Openly Gay Athlete Voted High School Prom King
We love when life imitates art, but, in this case, it appears that art imitated life. A real life Glee moment happened at a high school prom this past weekend, and we got the heart-warming details to prove it!
Openly gay high school track athlete Craig Cassey was voted prom king this year, according to OutSports who tells of Craig’s dilemma of wanting to go to the prom with his boyfriend, Carl, but didn’t want to upset his mother. Craig decided to take a girl instead, but the real magic happens after the dance. Wow, sorry, that sounded completely inappropriate. Maybe we will just let Craig explain. Here is what he posted on his own blog, Craig’s Gay Word:... FULL STORY

Speaking of Ugly Betty (see our Glee size-comparison post from this morning), what a coincidence that shirtless photos from the show's unlikely sex-symbol Christopher Gorham (who played hot nerd Henry) have rammed their way into our inbox. Follow the jump for more photos of the hunky actor shirtless in a towel from the set of his new indie movie Somebody's Hero after the jump!

Tags: ugly betty, tv, justin, first gay kiss, video, in case you missed it It may be swirling the cancellation drain, but Ugly Betty is still pulling out powerful moments, most notably with cutie-patootie Justin's first kiss with a boy airing last night.
Why do the important, creative shows get cancelled and shows like Two And A Half Men remain? *frustration*

Tags: becki newton, ugly betty, vanessa williams, michael urie, ana ortiz, eric mabius, love bites, abc, nbc Though we may soon be missing Ugly Betty, seems like we won’t be missing the cast. Since ABC announced the cancelation of the once-hit show, the actors have become the most sought after to cast in pilot season, which is getting underway as the networks will begin picking next season’s new shows.
The first Mode employee to land a new gig: Becki Newton. Though she’ll always be Amanda to us, Becki has just signed on for NBC’s dramedy Love Bites. The romantic comedy comes from Sex And The City writer Cindy Chupack. The Hollywood Reporter is noting that Becki will play one of two permanent cast members, Annie, an optimistic, infectiously bubbly social worker who is a virgin.
Before choosing Love Bites, Becki reportedly received... FULL STORY

Sad, sad news out of TV today. One of the only gay, gay, gay shows worthy of precious Tivo real estate has been cancelled. That's right Ugly Betty lovers -- the show will NOT return in fall for a new season.
In a joint statement, exec producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson confim the decision by saying, “We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

Let’s hope so! For some god-awful reason, ABC moved Ugly Betty to Friday nights this season, ya know, the night shows go to die. And the move has been awful for the once-hit show, as Betty and company have been pulling in dismal ratings. Problem is the show is still really good!
So, on the heels of ABC’s decision to cancel Eastwick (was anyone watching?) comes news that Ugly Betty could likely be taking over that coveted Wednesday night slot! And, since Eastwick actress Rebecca Romijn is now apparently out of work, maybe she could slide back into her heels and revive her brother-turned-sister role on Betty?
Need more proof that staying on Friday nights would soon mean the closing of Mode? Look no further than Fox’s Friday... FULL STORY

We guess this can be viewed as a sing of progress. Yahoo! just created a list of their favorite gay TV characters, with some surprising choices.
Of course there’s Ellen Morgan, Jack McFarland and Will Truman, but Yahoo!’s favorite gay character is none other than newbie Kurt Hummel from Glee. “Maybe we're biased because we're such huge fans of the show, but we thought that Kurt's coming-out episode was a truly poignant TV moment. Kurt had joined the William McKinley High School football team so that his dad (played by Mike O'Malley) would think he was tough -- but then he persuaded the whole team to perform Beyonce's "Single Ladies" during a game. After their underdog win, Kurt admitted he's gay to his dad, who replied, "I've... FULL STORY
