A Fine Frenzy (AKA Alison Sudol) has written some of our favorite heartbreak songs of relationships past. And after a few years of seclusion, the phenom is back with her third full-length album, the recently released PINES. We caught up with Ali while she’s on the road for a nationwide tour with Joshua Radin to find out where she’s been the past few years, the inspiration behind the fantastic new single, “Now Is The Start” and how exactly someone records an album in a tree-filled studio in just one week—sometimes even on just one mic!
