ImageAfter 90 minutes of calm debate that saw all Republicans (and two Democrats) siding against it, San Francisco Assemblyman Mark Leno's gay marriage bill - similar to the one he introduced in 2005 - passed the California Assembly 42-34 late Tuesday.

If the bill does pass the Senate, which it did in 2005, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has already stated he would veto it a second time.

When the California legislature OK'd gay marriage in 2005, it became the first state in the nation to do so without any sort of court mandate.

Did Californians realize, when they elected him, that the Terminator would wind up being the only thing that stood between them and gay marriage?

OH, and also: Paris Hilton isn't in jail anymore.
