Has Hell Frozen Over?
Written by Alex Cho

ImageSalt Lake City, home of the Mormon church, has offically begun allowing same-sex couples to register as partners on city records. (Originally the legislation called the couples "domestic partners," but Utah state lawmakers objected. Now they registry is called a "mutual commitment registry.")

While the move to register is more symbolic than legal, the official document, once received, could be used to prove domestic partner status for companies or services that offer domestic partner benefits.

The registry is open to adult unmarried couples who live together in an interdependent relationship.

They must provide the City Recorder's Office with three pieces of proof of interdependence. That could be a joint mortgage or lease, joint vehicle ownership, a life insurance policy designating the partner as beneficiary, joint bank account, or power of attorney.

Actually, I've visited SLC before and found out that it's relatively liberal—and my pal Jared Gold, queer designer extraordinaire, is based there—so it's not *too* surprising, I guess. All those ex-Mormons have to add up, right?

Olivia Newton-John Says It's A G'Day For A Good Cause

I know you guys might be tired of hearing from me, so I’m going to let our friend Olivia Newton-John do the talking for me today. It’s a worthy cause, gentlemen, so give our dear Olivia a read:

G'day!!

Well, the time is finally here and I wanted to share some exciting news with everyone at INSTINCT!!

After years of planning and months of training, I am about to face one of the most amazing and exciting challenges of my life—walking the Great Wall of China with some of my friends, Olympians, fellow celebrities and cancer survivors-and with the support of my sweetheart John Easterling and his wonderful Amazon health products that will help get us through!

The Great Walk to Beijing will not only be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us all but, it will have a purpose as well —making a difference to those millions of people on the planet facing cancer, by raising money for the OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN CANCER and WELLNESS CENTRE—my dream centre for treating the whole person-mind body and spirit- and for furthering cancer research through the Ludwig Institute which will be part of my hospital.

Our event can change the way cancer is treated throughout the world!

But now, as I pack my hiking gear and walking shoes, I am asking for your help. Even though you may not be walking the Wall with me, you can still be an important part of my team just by sitting in front of your computer! Your help is just a click away!!!!

We need to get sponsors to help support us, step by step, and you can be a vital part of the team by forwarding this note to all of your friends and family to spread the word to PLEASE sponsor me and my steps to raise the funds to see my dream of the OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN CANCER CENTRE (ONJCC) finally become a reality.

You can help make a difference by sponsoring my efforts by clicking here (every donation--- 10 dollars or whatever you can spare will help reach our goal!)

Some of you may know that in the last 4 years we have already raised 65 million dollars towards the building of the ONJCC ,and the proceeds from this Great Walk could help us finally break ground !

Please help me spread the word to help make the OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN CANCER CENTRE a reality so that, as a cancer "thriver" I can continue to help those currently affected by this illness by creating a world-class cancer, wellness and research center and make a difference to millions of people around the globe.

We all often "talk the talk" and now I am ready to "walk the walk"!!

Please be a part of team and help me spread the word!

Love and Light,
Olivia Newton-John

Christian Siriano on Ugly Betty May 1
Written by Alex Cho

ImageFerocia sasspot Christian Siriano, winner of the most recent Project Runway, will be on Ugly Betty on May 1, in what will probably be the gayest confluence of gaydom in the history of gay (at least on network TV). More, from People.com:

The plot: Mode magazine is trying to convince Christian to work with them for a fashion spread instead of their competitors. So the designer shows up for a meeting with an entourage of models wearing his designs and Runway judge Nina Garcia, who also plays herself on the episode.

Nina plays herself! Hot! Setting the ol' TiVo now...

Ladies Of Grandeur
Written by Mike Wood
Tuesday, 15 April 2008
I was totally remiss last week. I failed to honor a legend as I had intended and offer a shout-out she so deserved. So, bowing my head in shame, I offer my shameless plug for one of film’s all-time greats, here and now!

Last Tuesday the grand dame of everything cinema (no, not Angelina Jolie!) graced Target shelves across the land with yet another DVD collection. But this time, the set finally included a gorgeous two-disc edition of the cinematic classic All About Eve. If there is anyone out there reading this super-gay blog who don’t realize I’m referencing Ms. Bette Davis, be shamed! There are four other films in the set, but it’s Eve that makes The Bette Davis Collection the must own.

Yesterday, a diva for the Internet age also got the box set treatment, too. I’m speaking, of course, of Ms. Tila Tequila—the bisexual nymphette from A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila. Trainwreck TV has never been more addictive! If you want your own shot of Tila and her first season on DVD, we’re giving her away! Well, the DVDs.

Our blog readers who melt our black hearts with a love letter to Ms. Tequila, post it here AND send it via email to editor@instinctmag.com will win!

Trapped In an Elevator for 41 Hours...
Written by Alex Cho

The New Yorker has a strangely ineteresting feature about elevators this week, but by far the most interesting part is the story of Nicholas White, a former BusinessWeek employee, who was trapped in an elevator in Rockefeller Center for 41 hours in 1999. He was working late for a special assignment, went out for a cigarette, got back in the elevator, and it stopped. He had no cell phone or watch. Check out this amazing time-lapse video:

Ever wondered what it's like to watch a man go crazy? Yikes. The experience altered his life forever; he is currently unemployed and has lost all contact with his former colleagues.
