The Cake, The Killer Whale and The Best Weekend Ever

ImageWhat were you doing this morning at 5:00 am? Probably sleeping (or crawling through a back alley), right?

I was on my way to the airport, to come back to LA from a weekend trip to San Francisco (and, I might add, to come in to work anyway!). This might have been THE perfect weekend, for five reasons.

1. Late-night sessions of Justice League Heroes on Playstation 2. (My fave character? Zatanna.)

2. Watching the first half of this totally awesome movie, before the Netflix DVD died a horrible, scratchy death. This was very upsetting, because we really only wanted to see the ending with the ice floes!

3. Visiting this. Nothing like eating green tea ice cream while walking through a mall filled with Christmas lights, cherry blossoms and wannabe Harajuku Girls.

4. Forcing my friend to walk to the top (and back down) of this. No, wait, I mean this. (My feet still hurt, but we made each other laugh all the way with bizarre accents. Impending death from overexhaustion tends to lead to that.)

5. Lots and lots of this.

Blue Monday

Well, outside it's an overcast and overall gloomy Monday (kind of fitting for the four-year anniversary of the Iraq War), but here inside the office, it's business as usual... or perhaps not so usual, as it's the first live day for our new website, including this "Watercooler" feature (where the head office "bigwigs" are holding Super Soaker squirt guns to our heads to ensure we blog on a daily basis).

Myself, I've been blogging for almost three years now, over two of which have been at my music site, Chart Rigger, so it's not so daunting. But I'm jazzed to see Mike and Jonathan join the fray. Hmmm... there seems to be some kicking and screaming echoing down the hallway.

At any rate, on a gloomy day, it always helps to make your home more, uh, homey. That said, I'm eyeing up this Warhol "Lemon Marilyn" that is reportedly set to fetch $15 million at a Christie's auction in New York on May 16.

Now, where did I put my expense report?

Well, here we go, boys…welcome to the official launch of Instinct Magazine's blog!

We’re calling it the Watercooler because we hope to get you and your co-workers and cronies talking! We'll cover the gamut—from entertainment to politics, from personal anecdotes to issues that affect the gay community on a global scale…and everthing in between. You can expect the same signature sass, sarcasm and style you've grown accustomed to in our magazine, but now we can hit you with it on daily basis. Yes, maybe you should be scared…but more than anything, we'll keep you entertained!

Bear with us. We’re just learning what the hell we’re doing in the blogging world, but we’re sure to get the hang of it soon. Right? Yeah, we hope. You'll hear from Robbie, Jonathan and me on a regular basis, so give us some shout-outs! Maybe we'll be talking about YOU in our next blog entry.
