ImageAlthough "debate" is a bit of a misnomer... Logo will host a live forum where all the Democratic candidates (except for Joe Biden and Chris Dodd) will each take the stage for 15 minutes, presumably to speak and answer questions from a panel that includes HRC's Joe Solmonese and Melissa Etheridge. The candidates will never share the stage with one another, and thus will be not be able to actually debate.

We hope the panelists ask some tough questions. (Like, why only two candidates - Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel - actually support gay marriage.) Also, all the candidates' stances on issues like employment non-discrimination and Don't Ask, Don't Tell are identical (yes, and no, respectively), so viewers will depend on the panelists to needle them a bit. It'll be all about reading between the lines and getting a feel for the person.

It's worth noting that Logo also proposed a forum to the Republican candidates, but none of the front-runners were interested.

If nothing else, with the amount of mainstream press coverage this event has already receieved, it marks a milestone for the gay rights movement. And setting a precedent like this may be far more important than what is discussed during those two hours.

It's on Logo tonight at 9 pm eastern time; also available to watch online live at logoonline.com

For those who live in LA, another potentially groundbreaking event is happening after the forum: Hilary Clinton will visit the Abbey! Sorry Obama and Edwards, but that makes us kind of partial to her already...

I wish we could combine the best qualities of all three into one candidate... they really each have their merits.
