The New Yorker has a strangely ineteresting feature about elevators this week, but by far the most interesting part is the story of Nicholas White, a former BusinessWeek employee, who was trapped in an elevator in Rockefeller Center for 41 hours in 1999. He was working late for a special assignment, went out for a cigarette, got back in the elevator, and it stopped. He had no cell phone or watch. Check out this amazing time-lapse video:
Ever wondered what it's like to watch a man go crazy? Yikes. The experience altered his life forever; he is currently unemployed and has lost all contact with his former colleagues.

Wow. That's is so strangely interesting. Were other people going in and out of the other elevators? How did nobody see him on the monitor?

This is just so freaky. How can this have lasted so long? Makes me never want to go anywhere without a cel phone!

This is a sobering reminder that when you're riding in an elevator alone with your boyfriend and he pinches your nipples through your t-shirt, somebody is watching you.
