Remember the ridiculously bigoted remarks made by Oklahoma lawmaker Sally Kern? (How could anyone forget?)
Well, 1,000 people ralied this week to her defense. (An earlier rally organized by PFLAG drew only about 300.) This is insane:
Kern
was cheered when she told the crowd that their support
affirmed the rights of conservative Christians "who want
to stand up for the truth of God's word."
"What
has happened to me has served to advance the gospel,"
said Kern, who was greeted with chants of "Sally,
Sally" and was frequently interrupted by shouts of
"Amen."

Seriously. Religious fundamentalists. Running our country. No wonder everyone else in the world thinks we're nuts.
