Andy Cohen has played host to hundreds of guests on his late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live over the past decade. Not all of them, however, left a good taste in his mouth either before, during or after their appearance.
The father-of-one spoke about how some celebs are blacklisted from his show in an interview with AOL Lifestyle on Sunday, August 4.
“There are a few people,” Andy, 50, said. “And you would be surprised, there are a few people who we have deemed ‘not worth the trouble.'” He did not name names relating to who won’t be coming back to his program anytime soon (or ever).
“Like, you can’t talk about this and you can’t ask about that,” he explained. “Or there are a couple people who have been on the show that we deem too annoying to come back.”
He confirmed that none of the “annoying” guests included Bravo stars. So, breathe a sigh of relief, Vanderpump Rules cast and Southern Charm hotties, you’re safe.
Andy has, however, spoken about some of his negative guest experiences that he’s had in the past, particularly with social media superstar Amber Rose and former Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels.
“She was not up for my tomfoolery. I remember asking her questions and she was like, ‘I don’t want to talk about that. I don’t want to talk about that.’ It was not a good fit. I just don’t think it was the show for her,” he told Vulture in June 2019 about Amber, 35.
The television personality also mentioned X-Files star Gillian Anderson and Oscar nominee Debra Winger as two other guests who he didn’t think had a good time on WWHL.
“Oh my god, it was bad. I almost can’t talk about it,” he said about the Terms of Endearment star’s appearance. “You know what’s weird about Debra Winger? We really did connect, and during the commercial break, she kept saying, ‘You know, you’re like my Jewish little brother. I feel connected to you.’ But then when the camera came on, she wasn’t having me.”
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess is more than likely added to Andy’s blacklist as well after they got into a scuffle over actor Eddie Murphy and his past homophobic language on WWHL last month.
He was awful to Jillian Michaels onscreen, but he wants to keep talking about blacklisting her. Who cares who he blacklists? His show is boring and way past it’s time for television. It’s only on because of who he is. Do us a favor and end it please, @andycohen.
What is “it’s only on because of who he is” supposed to mean? AC has broadcast thousands and thousands of WWHL shows and only has a relative handful of dud guests. Though I’m thoroughly entertained by Titus Burgess on Unbreakable, he is an annoying eye-rolling priss in every interview just like he was here. Gillian Michaels speaks with authority, as a personal trainer ought to. But the reality is, she has an incredibly harsh personality, is very uninformed and gives awful advice.
