Judy, which tells the story of Hollywood royalty Judy Garland, is set for a late 2018-early 2019 release. The film will star Academy Award-winner Renée Zellweger who has left us in suspense after the first images of her portraying Garland were released earlier this year. Judy Garland is the mother of today’s powerhouse Liza (with a Z) Minnelli.
The film will be directed by Rupert Goold and based on a script written by Tom Edge (The Crown). The film will also include a Liza character that will be played by Gemma-Leah Devereux.
Others in the cast include Finn Wittrock, Jessie Buckley, Michael Gambon, and Rufus Sewell.
Recently, a story surfaced that has since been removed from the interwebs that reports Minnelli and Zellweger had bonded over the film.
But it seems Minnelli wanted to make things perfectly clear that she and Zellweger have never, in fact, even met. She took to Facebook to post the following:
Liza went IN! We heard you loud and clear, girl!
