Is an NSFW picture of a celebrity worth over $6,000 to you? It was to someone else out there.
According to Pride.com, there’s buzz in the air after a portrait of Channing Tatum showing his testicles was sold on eBay.
On one front, we kind of get it. After all, people are obsessed with celebrities. So why not buy some art celebrating your celebrity of choice. On top of that, people thirst after male celebrities all the time. Instagram is proof of that alone. So creating art to satisfy that thirst is also pretty understandable too. In fact, it’s also a very lucrative business choice. Though, it could also be dangerous and could cause legal troubles from Tatum and his team (were they to find out).
Vice were the first ones to report on his interesting piece of artwork last week. At the time, the art was only going for $230. But once Vice shot a spotlight onto the artwork, its prize rose exponentially. Eventually, the highest bit for the work became $11,100.
Despite that bid, however, the piece was later sold for a lowered amount of $6,600. And honestly, we can only applaud the creator for what must have been an unexpected payday. Let’s just hope that Tatum and his team don’t reach out with a cease and desist (or worse).
Now, get to painting a new celebrity. Michael B. Jordan perhaps?….
