I don't think there are too many spoilers here but if you are overly sensitive to AHS spoilers and want to know zero about what may occur, don't read on.
I'm a binge watcher of many shows. I love me some Criminal Minds so when Netflix posted the first 9 seasons, I ate those all up. Orange is the New Black, Supernatural, and Hemlock Grove were also victims of my marathon style of viewing. The earlier seasons of American Horror Story, they too were swallowed whole once they were all available. Why do I do this? Well, you get to see the stories develop quickly from episode one to the season finales. It's also because I'm not a Time Warner / Xfiniti / COX supporter dishing out $200+ a month, but instead slide under $17 a month to Netflix and Hulu Combined. I cannot wait until HBO GO becomes their own entity. Call me cheap or frugal, but it's what I do.
I am not minding the spoilers of this new seasons of AHS : Freakshow. I'll take them in stride and may forget about some of them by the time the season is available to consume all at once. But maybe my binge watching of the previous seasons has helped me be prepared for this news … all the AHS seasons are connected. Show Co-Creator Ryan Murphy was recently asked about these connections by EW reporter Tim Stack.
Can you say anything about Lily Rabe coming back?
I don’t want to say much about it but obviously she’s playing Sister Mary Eunice. The interesting thing about doing a show like this is every season is incredibly its own story and its own beginning, middle and end. Its own journey. But we have always from the very beginning in the intertwining mythologies and how things connect. This is the first year where we begin to tell you that season two is connected to season four which is connected to season one. People have started to write articles about that. A lot of their hypotheses have been completely right on. That’s the fun of the show. Hopefully by the end of the run, be it 10 years or 15 years, people will be able to stand back and be able to say, “Oh that was connected to x.”So you’re saying that season four is connected to season one?
They’re all connected. We’re just beginning to tell you how they’re connected. They’re all very separate but there’s clues every season that we’re now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined. EW
I'm excited to dig up the knowledge of the older seasons and have them ready for each new episode and each new season. If you would like to read more of Ryan Murphy's Interview with Entertainment weekly, go here. I may break my practice and start reeling in AHS : Freakshow. After all the Peppers and Twisties I saw over the weekend, I'm already interested.
So! Doctor Who and numerous
So! Doctor Who and numerous other UK series has been doing the same for decades. And as a fellow American, I can't fathom why the U.S. market hasn't caught on to this form of story telling until AHS!?!?
Finally a REALLY great way to tell a story on American telly!
