The Malaysian gay sex scandal keeps going on. And this time, they’ve brought in an American to shake up the messy political scandal.

According to the Straits Times, the authorities have sent for the advice of an American expert.

“The police had sent a team to the United States of America for a third-party expert’s opinion on the videos. The report of the videos will be sent to us soon, definitely by the year’s end,” said the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, Commissioner Huzir Mohamed, during a press conference in Bukit Aman on the matter.

That’s not the only opinion the police have sought on the cause. Supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam, of the conservative Umno political party, has also spoken with the police about the matter. He has also sought advice from international colleagues about the ongoing case.

“We have recorded his statements on him getting expert opinions from overseas and have informed the Attorney-General on the matter and it is up to them if they accept those reports,” he said.

One factor of the case still being investigated is who is continually spreading the gay sex video. New cuts and versions of the full video have been shared with government officials and journalists to keep the story going for months.

“Who sent it? Who received it? There’re so many things to question. When we did it, we know who the expert is, the credibility, and whether or not they had given statements in court before,” Adam added.

All of this talk is focused on the still ongoing case around a leaked gay sex video. The video shows two men in a hotel room laying in bed, watching tv, and kissing while naked. Soon after the first wave of videos hit the internet, political aide Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz confirmed that he was one of the men. He then named the second man as Malaysian Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali. Ali later denied that claim.

The two men have then been in the midst of controversy in the homophobic country where sodomy is a crime thanks to British colonial-era laws. Aziz later lost his job and was arrested for confessing to the public display of homosexuality. That said, the police have yet to confirm the identity of the other man. Though, Ali has had to dodge major inquiry since his name was mentioned by Aziz.

Now, months later, with even American experts weighing into the situation, one has to wonder when all of the insanity will finally end.
