Is it finally time that Marvel did Black Widow justice?

For years, fans of the MCU’s first female hero have been campaigning for her to get her due respect. While many of her teammates have been given their own movies (or three), Black Widow has been without a film for the near-decade since her first appearance.

Initially, it was just Black Widow’s actress, Scarlet Johansson, who expressed displeasure with the character’s circumstances. In order to course-correct, Johansson started aggressively pushing for her own film projects. (Unfortunately, that led to a series of bad casting decisions). Then, the Black Widow character was backstabbed by Marvel execs in Avengers: End Game. But, there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel. A solo Black Widow movie.

And now, we finally have a first trailer for the film. Earlier today, in the wee hours of the morning, Marvel Studios dropped the official teaser trailer for the Black Widow movie. The film’s plot seems to be a prequel of an unspecified time. That said, fan speculation is that the solo film takes place after Captain America: Civil War when the character was on the run from the law and from the Captain America/Iron Man feud. Black Widow then goes to confront her past and meets up with her former family, including a very jacked David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov or Red Guardian.
