A 23-year-old man from the Bronx was attacked by a violent homophobe while trying to take the train.

According to 1010 Wins, the incident happened around 1 a.m. this Friday. The victim, whose name has been withheld for privacy, was waiting to take the train at the East Tremont Avenue station in the Bronx. After failing with his weapon, the attacker then grabbed the victim. The attacker then pushed the victim onto the train tracks. Luckily, the victim was also able to pull himself back onto the train platform.

Despite his ability to defend himself and pull himself to safety, the victim did not get away scratch-free. He sustained a slash to his eyebrow and the back of his neck. He was later transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Local police are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime because of anti-gay remarks made by the attacker. Police are urging anyone with information to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-8477.
