So far, six student football players who attended St.Michael's College School have been expelled and arrested after a video of them brutally sodomizing another student with a broomstick, Queerty reports.
St. Michael's is an all-boys Catholic school in Toronto for grades seven to twelve. The school immediately expelled four students after the video surfaced of students holding another boy's legs apart while others forcibly inserted a broomstick into him. Gruesome stuff.
Five of the six students turned themselves in, while the sixth one was arrested at school. The police have charged them gang sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and assault. According to the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network, or RAINN, one in thirty-three men will be sexually assaulted during their lifetimes and that the 2014 National Crime Victimization survey revealed that 38% of rape survivors were men.
During a recent press conference, Dominic Sinopoli, the Toronto Police Inspector, said that the police have good reason to believe that more videos of the same nature are in existence and, in fact, another video surfaced of basketball players slapping another boy who was stripped down to only his underwear which were wet, presumably from someone pouring water on him.
These assaults are extremely sickening and enforces the fact that anyone of any age and sex can be victims of sexual crimes and that anyone can be the perpetrator of them. The five boys involved with the crime did the right thing by turning themselves in but the crime should not have been committed in the first place. These videos are a harrowing reminder of the prevalence of sexual crimes in the world. Thankfully, the majority of people would never think to do the horrible things done in the videos.
