Police are on the lookout for the two men who attacked Jussie Smollett.
According to ABC7 Chicago, Chicago police have acquired and released video surveillance of potentially two people of interest in the attack on Smollett.
The pictures reveal two darkened silhouettes as they walk down New Street between 1:30 am and 1:45 am on Tuesday. Unfortunately, these are the only photos that police have been able to find.
Information is still coming in concerning the case, but this is what the authorities and reporters have so far.
Empire star Jussie Smollett was attacked in Chicago early Tuesday morning. Smollett told police that he was walking alone on the 300-block of East North Water Street at 2 a.m. when two people starting yelling at him.
Smollett’s music manager Brandon Z. Moore backs this statement and says he was on the phone with Smollett during the start of the attack. Moore told Variety that he could hear the words “MAGA country” in the background.
"I heard that clearly. I heard the scuffle and I heard the racial slur," Moore recounted.
Once the two men caught up to Smollett, they hit him in the face with their hands before pouring a chemical on him. Police believe the chemical was bleach, but tests haven’t completed yet. The men then wrapped a rope around Smollett’s neck, but then fled the scene.
Smollett then called the police around 2:42 a.m. and he was still wearing the rope around his neck with officers arrived. Smollett then checked himself into Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was released later that day.
Smollett also states that the below letter was sent to the FOX studio before the Tuesday attack. The letter was laced with a powdery substance that police believe to be Tylenol.
On top of Chicago police looking into the attack, the FBI are investigating the letter itself.
In addition, community activist Andrew Holmes is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone who has important information about the attackers. He says information can be passed on by calling 800-883-5587.
